WOVEN HAND ACTUALLY PLAYS A SHOW IN RALEIGH?

DAVID EUGENE EDWARDS SITTING TWO FEET AWAY FROM ME WHILE I USE MY PATHETIC CELL PHONE CAMERA TO HAVE A BLURRY MEMORY OF THIS NIGHT.

I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I SAW DAVID EUGENE EDWARDS (FORMERLY OF SIXTEEN HORSEPOWER, A BIG FAVE OF MINE)PLAY WITH HIS NEW BAND, THE WOVEN HAND AT THE POUR HOUSE IN DOWNTOWN RALEIGH ON A SUNDAY NIGHT IN FRONT OF MAYBE TWENTY SOMETHING OTHER PEOPLE THAT ALSO COULDN'T SEEM TO BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING. AFTER ALL, RALEIGH ISN'T EXACTLY EUROPE. AND THIS MAN IS PRETTY BIG OVER THERE, BUT IN HIS NATIVE COUNTRY NOT QUITE AS MUCH. IT WAS A PRETTY INTENSE SHOW.

EDWARDS AND HIS DRUMMER PLAYED TONIGHT. SOMETIMES THE BAND IS AUGMENTED BY A BASSIST AND A GUITARIST. THEY PLAYED A REAL LONG SET THAT WAS REALLY GREAT. THEY PLAYED SELECTIONS FROM ALL OF THEIR RECORDS. EDWARDS IS A INTENSE PERSONALITY, LEANING OFF OF HIS STOOL INTO HIS TWO PRONGED MIKE WITH NO STRAP, HE SEEMS TO CONJURE UP ALL KINDS OF SPIRITS, AND WITH HIS MOUSTACHE AND GLASSY EYED STARE, HE ALMOST LOOKS LIKE DAVID CARRADINE IN HIS KUNG FU PERIOD. ALL IN ALL, REALLY NEAT.

THE TWO OF THEM.

I WILL RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO SAY SOMETHING DUMB LIKE "WHERE WAS EVERYBODY?" OR LAMENT ON THE LACK OF TASTE THAT PEOPLE SEEM TO HAVE WHEN REAL QUALITY MUSIC COMES TO TOWN. INSTEAD, I WILL JUST BE GLAD THAT I WAS PRETTY EXCITED (FOR A CHANGE)ABOUT SEEING A BAND PLAY AND BE GLAD THAT I WAS AMONGST THOSE TWENTY FIVE PEOPLE.

Amen; a most righteous evening, indeed.

I live in Pennsylvania and would have traveled to see this show but I work for a perennial grower and its our busiest time as well as being understaffed. :(...
It's such a shame that here in America the musical as well as other media tastes seem to run very much at the shallow end. What seems to satisfy the majority here to me is mind numblingly boring....

You are very fortunate and the small number of people is an added bonus really , thanks for sharing the pic , it's not all that bad considering what you had to work with ..
Cheers
